The 5 Best Locations for an Oregon Coast Elopement

July 11, 2025

If you know me at all, you already know the Oregon Coast is one of my favorite places, and if you don’t already know me, I’m Maddy! Frequent traveler, rom-com enthusiast, and most importantly your *future* Oregon Coast Elopement Photographer.

Regardless of where you are in planning, I would love to support you and give you as much knowledge as possible. After all this is likely the first and only time you’re going to be planning to marry the love of your life, and as someone who has had years of experience documenting love stories, I’m here to provide as much information and guidance as possible to make this process as easy and stress free as possible!

And here’s something you should know about me and the spots you’ll find below: I’m not sending you on a 5-mile uphill hike to say your vows (unless that’s your thing!). While I absolutely love an epic view, I totally get that you probably don’t want to spend your wedding day sweating through switchbacks and wondering if this is finally the top. Nope.

Every elopement location on the Oregon Coast I’ve included below is either a short walk or a super easy hike. These spots let you soak in jaw-dropping views, spend real quality time with your partner or your people, and actually enjoy your day without the logistical headache.

So let’s dive in, here are some of the best places to elope on the Oregon Coast, handpicked by an elopement photographer who’s obsessed with helping couples have the relaxed, meaningful wedding day they truly want.

Heading: Top 5 Oregon Coast Elopement Locations

Canon Beach

  1. Vibe: Tall Windblown Grass, Soft Sand, Majestic Birds, Wide Open Space
  2. Permits: None (if less than 50 people)

Canon Beach is a classic oregon coast location- think small coastal town with a gorgeous expansive beach! Canon beach is extremely dog friendly! So if you’ve dreamed of eloping with your best friend… and your fiance of course; canon beach is a great choice!

My personal favorite thing about this locations are the birds (I love birds!) Think you and your lover running off into the sunset with a flock of birds flying away… So cinematic!

Elk Flats

  1. Vibe: Dramatic Cliffside, Rolling Green Hills, Wildflowers Fern & Moss
  2. Permits: None (for small elopements, always check for updates)

If moody, dramatic cliffs are what you’re looking for then the elk flats are for you! A short hike though ferns and wildflowers opens up to a stunning grassy cliffside with panoramic views of the ocean and the perfect amount of space for an intimate elopement!

The Elk Flats give me that “is this even real?” feel, like there no way this is such a stunning, easily accessible location within a short drive distance to a Taco Bell.

Cape Kiwanda

  1. Vibe: Rugged Coastal Bluffs, Golden Sandstone, Ocean Drama
  2.  Permits: None (for small elopements, always check for updates)

Cape Kiwanda truly is another location with a ton of cinematic beauty. Think golden cliffs carved by the wind and water and waves crashing below! It’s another location that feels like standing at the edge of the world.

Imagine, we take a short hike up to find some panoramic ocean view for your ceremony, then mosey our way down to the beach where you can run wild together and relax as the sunsets and you snack on a little picnic.

This stunning day wouldn’t have been possible without florals from Wrong Number Florals, Gown from Dalliance Gown Rentals, hair by Linsey Bozarth, and stunning makeup by Shantilly Artistry!

Samuel H. Boardman Corridor

  1. Vibe: Dramatic Sea Stacks, Coastal Forest, Hidden Cove
  2.  Permits: None (for small elopements, check for updates)

If you’re dreaming of a windswept coastline with jaw-dropping ocean and forest views at every turn, the Samuel H. Boardman Corridor could be your dream intimate elopement destination! With iconic seaside cliffs and moss-covered forest trails leading to tucked-away coves, it feels like stepping into a fantasy novel.

This is the ultimate spot for for couples who want variety and adventure without straying far from the car and another one of my personal favorites (but i may just say that about every location on the oregon coast)

Short Sands Beach

  1.  Vibe: Cozy Cove, Lush Forest, Chill Surfer Energy
  2.  Permits: None (for small elopements, always good to double-check!)

Short Sand Beach is a total hidden gem and great if you’re wanting a location that is a little less well known by travelers. Tucked away in Oswald West State Park, it’s a quick, easy paved walk through a forest of ferns and tall trees that opens up to the cutest little cove. You’ve got cliffs, tide pools, and surfers catching waves in the distance, it really is peaceful, romantic, and feels a little bit magical.

If you’re a couple that tends to favor a more laid-back, tucked-away vibe without having to hike miles, this could be the ultimate Oregon coast elopement spot for you! Honestly, it’s hard not to fall in love with this place.
